The proposed footbridge reflects Lancashire County Council’s vision to make the Ribble Coast and Wetlands Regional Park a widely recognised destination based on its environmental beauty and unique wildlife. The structure marks the crossing point of the greenway with the river Douglas and acts as point of reference in the wider marsh landscape. Its design responds to specific site conditions, its slenderness and elegance is the product of state of the art engineering. As a new strategic link, the bridge aims to serve both visitors and local residents, enhancing accessibility and quality of life in the region. The design with the fine mesh of suspension cables creates a special visual experience with a sense of movement that interacts with the environment; similar to a flock of birds or a field of reeds swayed by the wind.
