competition: 2005
location: Lenné Park, near Berlin
The competition was part of a regeneration programme for a 19th century historic landscape garden, designed by the famous Prussian gardener and landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné, located 50km south of Berlin. The complex geometry of the structure results in a series of distinct ‘faces’, encouraging accidental encounters between visitors, the features of the garden and the bridge itself: Reflections, views, the notion of seclusion, bubbling sounds in the water and lighting in the evenings create a strong overall spatial experience and contribute to the remaking of Lenné Park as special place.
