Following our design input with the initial Dalston Roof Park during 2010 and the Inflatable roof (2011-12), Bootstrap Charity asked us to assist them in setting up a collaborative design framework to define new ideas and possibilities for a future roofscape together with tenants of Bootstrap. We prepared information about the site, its context and relevant constraints that formed the shared starting point. We formulated the design brief for the collaborative design workshop and helped to organise and run the Roofpark Charrette with 25 participants, assisted by 4 architects’ practices at Bootstrap. We documented the outputs and assisted in a number of consultation events that followed, to collect more tenants feedback on initial ideas, in order to define the strategic brief and programme for the project.
This project is part of our community-oriented engagement in Dalston, East London, which includes the Dalston Roof Park and the Bootyard project.
