competition: 1st prize
location: Dessau-Rosslau, 2010
…roll-in! provides initial ideas and processes for strengthening and upgrading the urban area along Kavalierstraße, a central location in the Bauhaus City Dessau-Roßlau in Saxony-Anhalt. The proposal is assembled around a matrix of potential interventions, which relates temporal to spatial dimensions. Part of the process is the “red carpet strategy”: “carpets” are rolled into and across Kavalierstraße, replacing the heavy traffic that used to separate the core of the city. The “carpets” consist of both, temporary and permanent elements, depending on location and type of intervention, and are anchored to either existing buildings or squares. The competition relates to the overall urban strategy developed for Dessau-Roßlau during the IBA Saxony-Anhalt (2003-2010). zectorarchitects’ proposal received international recognition and was discussed during the Europan workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds and the Forum held in Neuchâtel in 2010. https://www.europan-europe.eu/en/project-and-processes/roll-in
